Park Eun-bin is preparing to show a side of herself that viewers have rarely seen before.
The actress, widely praised for her emotional precision in ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo,’ is returning in Netflix’s upcoming series ‘Wonderfools’ with a role that trades quiet intelligence for loud comedy, reckless energy, and supernatural chaos.
At the press conference for ‘Wonderfools’ held in Seoul on May 12, director Yoo In-shik expressed strong confidence in Park’s transformation. Having worked with her before, Yoo said he had already seen how far she could push a character and believed she would be able to handle even this unusual role.
In ‘Wonderfools,’ Park Eun-bin plays Eun Chae-ni, a bold and immature woman living in the fictional city of Haeseong. Park described the character as someone who says whatever comes to mind because she believes life could end at any moment.
The actress also admitted that Eun Chae-ni may be the most straightforward and simple-minded character she has ever played. Instead of carefully calculating her emotions or hiding her thoughts, Chae-ni acts first, speaks loudly, and creates trouble wherever she goes.
Then comes the twist: she gains the power to teleport.
The series is set in 1999, during the anxious and strange atmosphere of the end of the century. A group of ordinary outsiders suddenly receive supernatural abilities and are pushed into a mission to face villains and protect the world.

One of the major reasons fans are paying attention is the reunion between Park Eun-bin and director Yoo In-shik.
The two previously worked together on ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo,’ one of the most beloved Korean dramas of recent years. This time, however, their collaboration moves in a completely different direction.
Yoo praised Park’s comic instincts, describing her as a courageous actress who was willing to fully commit to the strange and playful tone of the series. Park also said she had wanted to work with the director again on a project that could make audiences laugh.
Their reunion gives ‘Wonderfools’ extra weight, especially for viewers who remember how strongly their previous collaboration resonated worldwide.
Unlike darker superhero stories, ‘Wonderfools’ is being positioned as a warm and humorous adventure.
Director Yoo explained that the production team paid close attention to the details of 1999, using small visual elements such as period-specific styling, graffiti, and Y2K-inspired props to recreate the mood of the era. The goal was not simply to show the past, but to create a world that feels playful, familiar, and emotionally inviting.
Park said the series may offer viewers a break from the complicated reality of everyday life. Instead of heavy drama, ‘Wonderfools’ appears to lean into laughter, friendship, teamwork, and character-driven fun.

The drama is gaining interest because it gives Park Eun-bin a rare opportunity to step outside the calm, intelligent, and emotionally controlled roles many viewers associate with her.
This time, she is loud, impulsive, funny, and unpredictable.
The ensemble cast also adds to the anticipation. The series stars Cha Eun-woo, Choi Dae-hoon, Im Sung-jae, Kim Hae-sook, Son Hyun-joo, Jung Yi-seo, Choi Yoon-ji, and Bae Na-ra, making it one of Netflix Korea’s most notable genre projects of the season.
As global K-content platforms such as Wikipicky continue to spotlight Korean dramas that mix genres in fresh ways, ‘Wonderfools’ stands out as a series that combines superhero fantasy, comedy, retro nostalgia, and emotional warmth.
For Park Eun-bin, it may become another turning point.
After proving she could move audiences with sincerity, she now seems ready to make them laugh with complete confidence.
